NJ Drones

My town of Ringwood NJ has recently become a hot spot for large mysterious drones. While it’s made the national news, there are still a lot of people who think “it’s just airplanes” or “it’s made up”, so I have been trying to capture a photo, but they are not cooperating. The drones arrive after it’s dark, move fast enough that a tripod isn’t an option and they’re too far away to use a flash…at least a normal flash (I’m trying to be creative).

Flying my own drone towards them hasn’t worked either since they can go faster than my Mavic 3 Pro which tops out at around 40 MPH, but this video does show how much activity was going on one night last week. Does anyone think all of these moving lights are planes? I have no idea who is behind the mystery drones, but it’s becoming a fun hobby.

We don't always know WHAT we're photographing, but we know we can make it look good.

Product photography is never boring with different challenges and interesting companies like Trinity Medical in Bedminster NJ. It was fun day of photography and even though we don’t always know WHAT we’re photographing, we know we can make it look good!

I use a company called Pixsy that searches the web for my images and then takes legal action on my behalf if possible. They recently found this overhead shot which shows the utensils have been replaced with their products, but everything else is obviously the same. The website says nothing can be done due to India's laws, but it’s an example of a modern problem for professional photographers and also why I don’t bother with watermarking my images. If they can do this….they can certainly remove a logo.

Hey, at least they thought the image was good enough to spend time editing it!

Night to Shine

I had the pleasure of photographing the local Night to Shine event last weekend and this was a favorite. I love the joy in the girls faces, I love the people all around them and the way the light wraps around their faces (this is a technique I’ve been working on for years and FINALLY I’m starting to get it right).
